Due to developing carpal tunnel syndrome, updates are currently Monday every three weeks. I'll get back to updating every other week when I can.
I'd really like to make a page each week, but I also have health problems with my hands and as such am not fast enough art-wise to manage it. If you want to be notified when new pages are put up, you can also follow me on deviantart, twitter or tapastic.
A fan comic of Avatar the last airbender, about Kyoshi's discovery that she's the Avatar, and her first challenge: saving the earth kingdom from a war between Chin and the Earth king - something she's entirely not ready for.
A couple things I should mention: this comic is a place were I can simply experiment, have fun, and learn. Therefore, the style is probably going to be inconsistent. I also can't manage color all the time because of how long it takes, so color will be reserved for certain sections.
Also, Kyoshi might seem a little different than you would expect at the beginning of the story. That's on purpose. We know her as a powerful warrior, but I think that's probably not what she started out as, but rather what she became. This is the story of how that happens.
Gahh I made soooo many mistakes on this page, I canneven tellya
ok I could tellya but I don't wanna
Only some of them are still in the page itself, but I had to redo some stuff to get it to look better. I also made the mistake of having way too many panels on this page. Both of those issues made this page take longer than usual.
I realized that I keep getting caught up in stuff that makes me sometimes forget that making comics is supposed to be fun - especially easy to do on difficult pages like this one.
I need to remove some of the pressure, so it's back to mainly black and white with maybe a little greyscale shading for a while, as the next section of the comic won't benefit from color nearly as much anyways.
Another benefit - the weakest part of the comic, in my opinion, are the drawings themselves. I've improved a lot on the coloring and shading, but since that's also the majority of the work, I'm not actually spending much time drawing, and as such I'm not drawing enough to properly improve. By simplifying the pages I can experiment more with improving my line work.
I've also identified some inefficiencies and am going to be experimenting quite a lot in the upcoming pages to try to improve my process, so expect lots of sketchiness.
